The invention relates to a vehicle welcome system and an operation method. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the vehicle welcome system comprises: a photographing unit that captures a vehicle for the peripheral area; a sensing unit for sensing whether a driver approaches within a predetermined range of the vehicle; and a control unit, which takes pictures of the peripheral area of the vehicle when the driver approaches the predetermined range and senses the brightness of an image of the peripheral area, the presence or absence of an obstacle and changes of the obstacle to control at least one of said vehicle headlights, side mirrors, and an output alert tone. When senses a driver approaches the vehicle, the system confirms a vehicle image obtained by shooting the peripheral area of the vehicle, increases security at night by turning on a welcome light when the driver appoaches the vehicle, prevents damage to the side mirrors by controlling the vehicle mirrors, or provides the driver with an environment that the driver can drive immediately, thereby making use of a vehicle AVM system to achieve a better welcome system.
