A synchronous belt transmission portal crane comprises a portal crane girder and a motor, a speed reducer, a left guide rail and a right guide rail which are mounted on the portal crane girder. A left door leaf is arranged under the left guide rail in a sliding mode, a right door leaf is arranged under the right guide rail in a sliding mode, a main belt wheel is arranged on an output shaft of the speed reducer and is arranged on one side of the portal crane girder, and an auxiliary belt wheel is arranged on a tensioning unit on the other side of the portal crane. A synchronous belt forms a closed loop through belt long and short pendants and is meshed with the main belt wheel and the auxiliary belt wheel, and power is transmitted by tensioning the synchronous belt. The portal crane has the advantages of high reliability and safety, good maintenance property, long service life and service period and low cost.
