The source content histogram is manipulated to reflect the determined target histogram prominent feature(s). Adapted source image content is generated based on the manipulated source histograms(s). Another prominent feature present in the target histogram is determined. The source histogram is further manipulated to reflect the other prominent determined target histogram features. Further adapted source image content is generated based on the further manipulated source histogram if the adapted source image content has insufficient image quality and perceptual color characteristics.
