Abstract The present invention pertains to a cellulose fiber in which some of the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose are substituted with carboxyl and/or formyl in an amount of 0.1mmol/g or more relative to the weight of the cellulose fiber and are further substituted with a chemically modifying group other than carboxyl and formyl.
