A television receiver (10) comprises: a genre specifying section (43) for specifying the genre of content; a video processor (19) for correcting said content using image quality parameters which are preset in accordance with the specified genre, and then displaying the content; a display controller (21) for displaying adjustment items for adjusting image quality parameter values while the content is being displayed; a parameter value adjustment section (41) for adjusting image quality parameter values in accordance with user input; and a parameter value altering section (42) for altering image quality parameter values to preset values associated with another genre, when the specified genre is switched to said other genre. The parameter value altering section (42) alters the image quality parameter values at different times according to whether or not adjustment items are displayed.
