The invention discloses an efficient diversion type vertical axis fan. The efficient diversion type vertical axis fan comprises a vertical axis wind wheel, wherein diversion devices which can change the direction automatically along the wind direction are arranged at the periphery of the vertical axis wind wheel; in each diversion device, two arc or S-shaped windward diversion vanes are arranged at two sides of windward direction of the wind wheel, and the two windward diversion vanes are arranged at two sides of the wind wheel in opposite directions. The efficient diversion type vertical axis fan further comprises a central tail vane, wherein the central tail vane is fixed and connected with the two windward diversion vanes, and the central tail vane is arranged at the leeward side of the wind wheel.
