Abstract | The present invention relates to a small-size hydrocyclone separator with high fluid treatment capacity owing to the structural features of the supply system, top outlet (overflow) and bottom outlet (underflow). The supply system is designed with two identical, diametrically opposed channels (18) that are curved where the cross-sectional area slowly decreases in order to accelerate smoothly the biphasic fluid stream. The possibility to fit interchangeable parts (2, 6) into the top outlet (13) allows changing the diameter of the top outlet, thus altering the hydrodynamic characteristics of the device and increasing the capacity of the device so that operational ranges suitable for fluid flows with a high, medium and low oil content can be achieved. The arrangement of a valve for continuously varying the surface area of the bottom outlet (7) makes it possible to widen the operational range of the hydrocyclone, even in conditions of high pressure loss and counterpressure across the top outlet, which would otherw |
