The invention discloses application of inorganic fiber in water purification. The inorganic fiber is improved basalt fiber or improved glass fiber, wherein the structure of the improved basalt fiber or the improved glass fiber is combined or ribbon-shaped; and the improved basalt fiber or the improved glass fiber is most preferably a fiber bundle comprising over 2,000 single fibers. The improved basalt fiber or the improved glass fiber of the invention has the advantages of corrosion resistance, low moisture absorption, high biocompatibility, easy regeneration of biomembrane, low cost, high durability and no load to environment.
