The invention discloses a tobacco sheet adhesive and a preparation method thereof. The tobacco sheet adhesive comprises the following components in parts by weight: 15-20 parts of chitin, 90-100 parts of wood pulp paper fibre, 40-60 parts of sorbitol, 10-20 parts of glycerol, 8-12 parts of liquorice juice, 1-2 parts of sodium benzoate, 15-25 parts of seasoning additive and 700-800 parts of water.The adhesive contains 8+/-1% of fibre and 14+/-2% of solid content, and a pH value is 2.0-5.0. The preparation method of the adhesive is as follows: weighting the materials in parts by weight; dissolving the chitin to a kettle by glacial acetic acid; then adding a proper amount of phosphoric acid; keeping the pH value of acidity of the solution in the kettle to be 2.0-5.0; under the stirring state, successively and slowly adding the rest of materials; and keeping stirring for 5-6 hours.
