The invention discloses an identity-based encryption method capable of reducing cipher text length, which comprises the following steps that: a, a private key generating center generates system parameters needed for building a system; b, the private key generating center verifies the identity of a user and provides a private key generation service for the user after the user passes through the verification; c, a cipher text transmitter party user entity uses only the identity information on a cipher text receiver party user entity as a public key of the cipher text receiver party user entity,encrypts a message and generates a cipher text; and d, the cipher text receiver party user entity uses the private key which is generated for the cipher text receiver party user entity by the privatekey generating center and corresponds to the identity information of the cipher text receiver party user entity to decrypt the cipher text to obtain a corresponding plain text message.
