Abstract The invention provides a method and equipment for detecting a frequency spectrum inversion state and/or if an input is carried on a single carrier wave or on a plurality of carrier waves, based on related results. On one hand, a receiver comprises a first signal processing unit which extracts a first data from an input signal based on the single carrier wave, a second signal processing unit which extracts a second data from the input signal based on the plurality of carrier waves, and a logic unit which is coupled with the first and second signal processing units to determine if frequency spectrum inversion occurs in the input signal.
