The invention provides a tundish covering agent specially used for pipeline steelmaking. According to the weight percentage, the covering agent comprises 4-6% of C, 20-40% of CaO, 7-9% of MgO, 2.13-17% of SiO, 5-7% of NaO, 18-20% of Al2O3 and the rest are minute quantities of FeT and KO. The tundish covering agent has the advantages that the low carbon high alkalinity tundish covering agent ensures the continuous casting carbon increasing is less tan 0.005% or even without carbon increasing, and effectively reduces the content of sundries in the molten steel.
