The invention discloses a card reader and data processing method with the card reader, wherein the card reader comprises an access module, a memory module, a connecting interface and a controller. The access module is used to be connected with a memory card and access a plurality of media contents stored in a memory card. The memory module is used to store personal information and a software program, wherein the software program can be executed in an electronic device and comprises an editing function. The connecting interface is used to be connected with the electronic device. The controller which is respectively coupled with the access module, the memory module and the connecting interface is used to control the access module, the memory module and the connecting interface. Thus, when the card reader provided by the invention is connected with the electronic device, the software program stored in the card reader can be automatically executed in the electronic device, thereby enabling a user to read the medi
