Abstract | A heat exchanger (301, 501, 601) for connection to an evaporator (201) of a heat transfer system using a working fluid that undergoes compression and evaporation. The heat exchanger comprises a first tube (107, 507, 607) having a first end (303) configured to be connected to the outlet (204) of an evaporator to allow fluid transmission from said outlet, and a second tube (108, 508, 608) having a first end configured to be connected to the inlet of the evaporator to allow fluid transmission to said inlet. The second tube is positioned within, or in thermal contact with, the first tube for a proportion (109, 110) of the respective lengths of the first tube and the second tube, so as to allow an exchange of heat between the fluid within said tubes. The first tube is constructed from steel alloy having alloyed components which reduce the hardness of said steel alloy to facilitate tube bending, thereby allowing the first tube to be bent during installation within the heat transfer system. |
