Summary:A temperature limiter of an electric hot plate assembly has a bimetallic expansion element (41) arranged in an enclosed space (22) closed by a cover (18) and located directly beneath the underside of a heated annular zone (19) of the electric hot plate assembly. The expansion element (41) controls a switch (53) located in a base (31) carrying the electrical terminals (29) of the electric hot plate assembly. The expansion element (41) forms a portion of the temperature limiter which is preassembled together with the temperature limiter base (31) and which projects from the base (31) into the enclosed space (22), the base (31) being arranged outside the enclosed space (22) and being thermally insulated relative thereto. Furthermore, the bimetallic expansion element (41) is curved, one of its ends having a pressure point (44) for the thrust rod (47) which acts on the switch (53). The other end of the expansion element (41) is fixed in the region where the thrust rod (47) passes into the base (31).
