Summary:1311371 Disinfectant compositions SCHULKE & MAYR GmbH 19 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970] 20441/71 Heading A5E A composition for disinfecting and preserving aqueous suspensions and emulsions susceptible to contamination and deterioration by deleterious microorganisms comprise a synergistic combination of (a) an N-hydroxymethyl- 2-haloalkanamide of formula: wherein R is H or C 1 -C 5 alkyl and X is halo; and (b) a metal halide (as defined), metal nitrate (as defined), C 1 -C 5 alkyl isothiocyanate, arylisothiocyanate (as defined) or a mixture thereof. The compositions may also contain other disinfectants such as hexahydro-1, 3, 5- tris (Z-O-alkyl)-1, 3, 5-triazines wherein Z is H or hydroxy alkyl. The composition may be used e.g. for treating synthetic coolants and cutting oil emulsions.
