Summary:A method and a system for the measurement of background and anomalous gamma ray radiation and neutron radiation underwater. The method and system include movement of a gamma ray radiation sensor adapted for underwater operation through two or more locations in order to measure changes in the intensity of underwater gamma ray radiation. The method and system include an underwater gamma ray measurement system adapted to detecting neutrons underwater by detection of the 2.223 MeV gamma ray radiation from the reaction of neutrons with Hydrogen in water. The method and system preferable include a real-time graphical user interface providing system operators with actionable information consisting of search results, search operational parameters and statistical analysis for meaningful and rapid human interpretations of underwater radiation measurements
