This invention relates to a gripping device for an endoscope,and to an assembly comprising an endoscope and a gripping device. A single use gripping device for an endoscope shaft comprises a first part; a second part, the second part being moveable relative to the first part, and at least one of the first and second parts including a channel for receiving said shaft,the second part being moveable relative to the first part between a first, open configuration in which the endoscope shaft can be placed in the channel and a second, closed configuration in which, in use, the first and second parts surround said endoscope shaft; engaging means configured to retain the first and second parts in said closed configuration and to prevent movement of the first and second parts back to said open configuration without disabling the engaging means; and detent means arranged to prevent insertion of an endoscope shaft into said channel when, in use, the first and second parts are in said closed configuration. La présente invention concerne un dispositif de préhension pour un endoscope et un ensemble comprenant un endoscope et un dispositif de préhension. L'invention concerne un dispositif de préhension à usage unique pour une tige d'endoscope comprenant une première partie; une seconde partie, la seconde partie étant mobile par rapport à la première partie, et au moins l'une des première et seconde parties comprenant un canal destiné à recevoir ladite tige, la seconde partie étant mobile par rapport à la première partie entre une première configuration ouverte dans laquelle la tige d'endoscope peut être placée dans le canal et une seconde configuration fermée dans laquelle, lors de l'utilisation, les première et seconde parties entourent ladite tige d'endoscope; des moyens d'entrée en prise conçus pour retenir les première et seconde parties dans ladite configuration fermée et pour empêcher les première et seconde parties de retourner dans ladite configuration ouverte sans désactiver les moyens d'entrée en prise; et des moyens d'encliquetage conçus pour empêcher l'insertion d'une tige d'endoscope dans ledit canal lorsque, lors de l'utilisation, les première et seconde parties sont dans ladite configuration fermée.
