Abstract A invenção é direcionada a um novo desenho para tubos de catalisador, o que torna possível aplicar o conceito de reforma regenerativa em reformadores a vapor tendo entradas e saídas de tubos de catalisador em lados opostos da câmara de forno. O tubo de catalisador compreende uma entrada para o gás de processo para entrar no tubo de catalisador e uma saída para o gás de processo para sair do tubo de catalisador, cuja entrada e saída estão localizadas em extremidades opostas do tubo de catalisador. O tubo de catalisador compreende ainda um primeiro canal anular compreendendo o catalisador, um segundo canal anular para o gás de processo fluir em contra-corrente ou co-corrente para o gás de processo que flui através do primeiro canal anular. The inventions is directed to a new design for catalyst tubes, which makes it possible to apply the concept of regenerative reforming into steam reformers having catalyst tube inlets and outlets at opposite sides of the furnace chamber. The catalyst tube comprises an inlet for process gas to enter the catalyst tube and an outlet for process gas to exit the catalyst tube, which inlet and outlet are located at opposite ends of the catalyst tube. The catalyst tube further comprises a first annular channel comprising the catalyst, a second annular channel for process gas to flow countercurrently or co-currently to the process gas flowing through the first annular channel.
