Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a kit for performing (D) including nerve tissue preparations stored in separate compartments, substance(s) for reacting with released neurotransmitters and reference materials having known performance as modulators of neurotransmitter release; (2) a compound able to modulate neurotransmitter release that has been identified by (D); and (3) using (2) to make a medicament for treating diseases of the nervous system.
