Abstract A power saving method for a mobile terminal receiving a data message from a mobile radio network, said data message consisting of a series of N blocks (BL) of which only the first M blocks contain useful data, N being a predetermined integer while M is an integer between 1 and N depending on said data message. According to the method, information (b1; b1, b2) indicating the number M of useful data blocks in the message is transmitted in said data message by the mobile network, and the mobile terminal is deactivated when said information (b1; b1, b2) has been read out by the mobile terminal and after the first M blocks containing useful data have been received.
