Abstract NOVEL SURFACE MODIFIED LIPID BASED NANO COMPOSITION OF 5-FLUROURACIL AND PROCESS THEREOF The present invention describes the novel surface modified lipid bases nano composition of 5-flurouracil. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the common complications among patients having prolonged history of Diabetes mellitus (DM). It damages retinal blood vessels and nerves in retina which leads to vision loss. All the conventional techniques used for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy are invasive techniques, painful very costly and have side effects also. By using conventional dosage form for treatment of DR the drug cannot reach to the desired site. Novel drug delivery system with possibility of surface functionalization, an effective molecular targeted drug delivery could be designed that can certainly benefit the healthcare fraternity and the patient at large by overcome the problem associated with the conventional management of DR and repositioning and surface modification of 5FU due to it potent unutilized anti-angiogenic activity for the management of DR.
