Abstract SCIENTIFIC MODEL FOR PREDICTING CHANGE IN RAINFALL USING CLIMATIC RASTER DATA MINING Abstract: Weather is an important factor that is highly oriented with all living organisms in the world. Rainfall forecasting faces more consequences all over the world. Meteorologist finds difficulty in predicting the rainfall pattern very accurately and the effects of changes in the weather condition. Among different techniques, the data mining technique is found to be best in forecasting rainfall. Data mining provides an accurate dataset of the rainfall and capable of visualizing it in graph and model format. The data mining helps in taking safety measures and corrective action with the data obtained regarding the rainfall prediction as the climate is environmentally oriented with the society such as agriculture, tourism, transport, vegetation, etc. The changes in weather conditions will also affect human activities. Rainfall information is important for food production plan, water resource activity, and all activity plan in nature. Both reduction and increase in rainfall pattern will affect human activities, agricultural land, vegetation, etc. Rainfall is a complex atmospheric process that includes features such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and pressure, etc. The difficulty in forecasting rainfall patterns in a different region is due to the variation in climate. Rainfall consist of a large number of an atmospheric process which follows a nonlinear pattern. Heavy rainfalls result in landslides in many areas will affect the living population. Management of flood is possible through the available data of forecasting rainfall. The main advantage of rainfall prediction will help us to maintain the water balance and to prevent the damage during the drought and flood condition which happens because of irregular climatic conditions. This invention is intended for the development of a scientific model for the changes in rainfall patterns. The data mining techniques are involved in the prediction of rainfall by collecting the previous data of various periods. This invention develops a scientific model based on K-means clustering technique followed by the classification process to attain an accurate and timely prediction.
