Abstract | EXTENDABLE CUTTING TOOLS FOR USE IN A WELLBORE A tool (100) for use in a wellbore, comprising: a tubular body (5) having a central bore therethrough, a piston (10): disposed in the body bore, having a bore therethrough, and operable to activate the tool (100); a lock (230) operable to retain the piston (10) in a deactivated position; an antenna (426) in communication with the central bore for receiving a first instruction signal from a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (450a,p) pumped through the central bore; a pressure sensor (405) in communication with the central bore for receiving a second instruction signal from pressure pulses transmitted through the central bore; and an electronics package (425) in communication with the antenna (426) and the pressure sensor (405) and having a controller operable to release the lock in response to receiving one of the instruction signals. |
