Abstract SUBMETERING POWER CONSUMPTION OF A system (100) and methods (200) are provided for monitoring the power consumption of a particular energy consuming device (104) of a plurality of energy consuming devices (104, 108, 110) and particular components thereof in real time. An energy management system (100) can enable components of a device within a home network to power to different operational modes in order to determine different power consumption levels.
