Summary:According to the prior art, in order to suspend pendant lamps use is made of different suspension systems depending on whether the suspension is to be performed on a ceiling hook (14) or directly on the ceiling (11). The invention achieves the object of providing a suspension system which is suitable for optional mounting on a ceiling hook (14) or directly on the ceiling (11). The invention provides a suspension frame (15) which has a mounting plate (19) that is to be fastened directly to the ceiling. Below the mounting plate (19) is a vertical eyelet (25) into which a ceiling hook (14) can be placed. The eyelet (25) is bounded by a retaining ring (22), into which a rod (17) on which the lamp hangs can be screwed. As an alternative to the rod (17), it is possible to use a cable which extends through bores (29) of the suspension frame (19) and has two pendant sections on which the lamp housing with the housing holder can be mounted.
