There were used theoretical methods: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, historic logic and moving up from the abstract to concrete, and empirical methods: document review and focal group.Results: it was determined criteria that admit the consideration of the hybrid teaching, by the scholar use of virtual classroom, as teaching departmental innovation.Conclusions: the introduction of hybrid teaching by the basic Biomedical Science Department, in Salvador Allende Medicine Faculty is a teaching innovation that participate in the digital transformation of medical education
