Abstract Los bancos de semillas son vitales para la conservación de la biodiversidad, pero su potencial se encuentra infrautilizado debido al limitado conocimiento de su diversidad genética intraespecífica. Al utilizar los datos digitalizados asociados con las colecciones de los bancos de semillas, como por ejemplo las ubicaciones de muestreo, el número de líneas maternas y las características de las semillas, podemos intentar estimar la variación genética e identificar déficits en las colecciones, permitiendo así una mejor priorización de especies. Estos avances pueden informar políticas como las del Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, promoviendo estrategias de conservación más efectivas. La digitalización y las tecnologías emergentes en aprendizaje automático ofrecen soluciones escalables y rentables para mejorar el conocimiento sobre conservación, asegurando la resiliencia de la biodiversidad para las generaciones futuras.
