BYZANTINE 'GLOBULAR AMPHORAE' AND THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES: ATTEMPTING TO SHED LIGHT ON A DARK-AGE ENIGMA

This paper, in summarising some of the results of the Rome conference, suggests an explanation for the supremacy of globular amphorae in and around the eighth century.
