Abstract The subject paper consists of a derivation of the equation for power input of high-speed rotary impeller in a closed stirred spherical vessel without internals under a turbulent regime of agitated liquid flow. The theoretical approach of the article modifies a derivation of the power input of a pitched blade and standard Rushton turbine disk impeller in closed cylindrical vessel without baffles when liquid flow is fully turbulent. Although results of published experiments seem to be quite consistent with the theoretical aspects of the problem this communication outlines a few shortcomings of both a theoretical and an experimental character in relation to vessel geometry and power inputs.
