Placement of a PTFE-covered wallstent through a 12 Fr sheath for the exclusion of a common iliac artery aneurysm

Summary:We describe a technique for transfemoral endovascular exclusion of an iliac artery aneurysm with a reconstrained polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-covered Wallstent inserted through a 12 Fr sheath after right femoral artery cutdown. The procedure was successfully performed, with evidence of complete aneurysm exclusion at 4-month follow-up. This technique reduces the caliber of the introducer needed to deploy the covered Wallstent. It should be noted that because of a leak, an additional covered Palmaz stent was also deployed.
