Summary:The transition to ecological agriculture becomes a necessity in a sustainable development society. Based on the circumstances predetermining Romania's potential to develop ecological agriculture, the challenge of convergence in terms of ecological agriculture remains a relevant issue for Romania in the medium and long term. The aim of this study is to identify the current state and the progress made in the process of convergence to organic agriculture in Romania as well as the main constraints on the development of this sector. Despite major constraints, the results show the existence of convergence in terms of ecological agriculture. They highlight the importance of continuing the efforts both from private and public sectors. [web URL: http://www.transformations.knf.vu.lt/42/article/cons]
