Abstract the purpose of this study was to describe students’ proportional reasoning abilities in terms of reflective-impulsive cognitive style. So, in this case this research can add insight to knowledge as well as a contribution to learning mathematics in the development of students’ proportional reasoning. This research uses descriptive qualitative research, focusing on the description of proportional reasoning abilities in terms of cognitive style. The subjects in this study were seventh grade students of SMP Batik Surakarta, followed by 30 student subjects. The subject selection technique in this research is using purposive sampling technique. So that based on the subjects who take the test, 4 students will be selected who are categorized into 2 students with a reflective cognitive style and 2 students with an impulsive cognitive style. Based on the results and solutions described above, it can be concluded that the proportional reasoning ability of students who have a reflective cognitive style can meet the three indicators used. The proportional reasoning ability of students has a very good tendency. proportional reasoning ability with impulsive cognitive style is able to fulfill the first indicator of proportional reasoning.
