인공지능 시대 B. 스티글러의 기술철학 : ‘원초적 기술성 Originary technicity’의 철학적 강령과 탈인간중심화의 이율배반

본 논문은 스티글러의 기술철학 이론을 분석하고 소개하고, 인공지능 artificial intelligence, AI에 대한 스티글러의 학제적 통찰력과 그 한계를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 먼저 기술이 인간의 근원적 결핍을 대리 보충한다는 ‘원초적 기술성’과 인간과 세계를 매개하는 전항적 ‘과도기적 대상’으로서 기술 개념을 분석한다. 이어서 ‘원초적 기술성’에 기반한 스티글러의 정치적 문제의식을 디지털 문명과 기술 위기, 자본주의적 모순과 불안정, 알고리즘 통치성 등을 중심으로 분석하고, 실천적 대안이 내포하는 경험적 한계와 이론의 논리적 모순을되짚어본다. 첫째로 실천적 한계는 그가 주장하는 에포케를 통해 자동화 기술로 박탈당한파지와 예지를 복원하고 AI 시대 기술 디스토피아를 넘어설 수 있는가에 대한 것이다. 둘째로 논리적 모순은 ‘원초적 기술성’ 개념의 논리적 한계다. 본 논문은 인간과 기술이 분리할수 없는 일체라는 탈인간중심적 통찰이 기술을 인간의 이익 증진을 위해 제어해야 할 도구로 돌리는 인간중심주의로 회귀함을 보일 것이다. 기술을 인간에 종속시키던 전통적 관점에서 벗어나 인간과 기술의 이분법적 서열을 해체하려는 스티글러의 통찰력에도 불구하고 결국 탈인간중심화의 논리는 기술을 인간 본위로 통제해 작동시켜야 한다는 모순에 봉착하게되는 것이다. The main term of B. Stiegler’s philosophy of technology, “originary technicity,” is a deconstructive invention challenging the traditional view of technology as a tool. Technology is seen as a supplement to human shortcomings. This paper explores Bernard Stiegler’s core ideas, namely “originary technicity,” “transitional object,” and “Pharmakon,” to classify Artificial Intelligence as an externalized body of artificial memory. Delving into concepts like “Homo Ludens,” “transitional object,” and “transindividuation,” one can grasp Stiegler’s view on the relationship between technology and human ends, prompting consideration of ways to make good use of auto-technology by de-automation. The paper concludes with two suggestions: first, while his philosophical thinking expands the horizons of thought in the face of the contemporary rise of AI technology, its implementation faces practical limitations. Second, we must reflect on the contradictions and limitations of Stiegler’s insights, as they deconstruct human-centrism only to ultimately return to it. KCI Citation Count: 0
