Abstract | This study investigated the effective density of ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and from July 28 to August 7 of 2018 at the road side in Seoul. Beta-ray Attenucation Monitor (BAM), Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS), Optical Particle Sizer (OPS), and Muliti Angle Absorption Photometers (MAAP) have been utilized for PM2.5 mass and PM2.5 volume concentrations. The equivalent Black Carbon (eBC) from MAAP has been reconstructed to PM0.3-2.5 eBC volume concentrations from mass absorption cross-section (MAC) compared to thermal elemental carbon. The six-hour average of effective density was ranged from 1.06 to 1.79 g/cm3. The diurnal variation of effective density was pronounced for the source impact related to PM chemical components. The overall average of density has been determined as 1.27 g/cm3 in this study.
