Abstract The cavitation noise of 2-D hydrofoils is measured a cavitation tunnel. A new experimental method was developed for the noise measurement of 2-D hydrofoil. Three hydrofoils with the span of 600mm are designed and manufactured to investigate cavitation behavior and noise characteristics. The experimental results show the noise characteristics of various cavitation patterns and the noise performance of the three foils very well. This suggests that low-noise propeller blade section can be developed using the present experimental method. 2차원 단면들의 캐비테이션 소음이 캐비테이션 터널에서 측정되었다. 새로운 실험방법이 2차원 단면의 소음측정을 위해 개발되었다. 스팬 600mm인 3종의 단면들이 캐비테이션 거동과 소음특성을 조사하기 위하여 설계 제작되었다. 실험 결과로부터 여러 가지 캐비테이션 형태에 대한 소음 특성 및 3종의 단면들의 소음성능을 분석할 수 있었다. 앞으로 저소음 프로펠러 단면이 현재의 실험방법을 이용하여 충분히 개발될 수 있음을 보여준다.
