Summary:Objectives: The purpose of present study aimed to investigate the effects of health belief beliefs on hand washing performance among dental workers in Daegu–Gyeongbuk Methods: The present study was conducted from March to May 2021, including 121 dental workers. All analyses were performed in SPSS 26.0. Results: The handwashing performance score, significantly higher among dental hygienists, in their 20s (p<.01). The higher the perceived severity, the higher and the perceived benefit (p<.01). As perceived benefit increased, perceived disability (p<.01) and motivation for action decreased. The lower the perceived disability, the lower the motivation for the action (p<.05). Perceived susceptibility (p<.01), perceived severity(p<.05), and motivation for action (p<.05) were significantly correlated to handwashing performance. Conclusions: The present study promotes hand-washing performance through the health belief model, providing basic data for the establishment of effective hand -washing educative methods to prevent dental infections.
