다문화 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 학교생활 만족도에 미치는 영향: Visible Minority 개념에 근거한 가시적·비가시적 외모 특성의 조절효과 분석

현대 한국 가족체계가 세계화를 맞이함에 따라 국내에 다문화가족 비율이 높아지는 추세다. 다문화가족의 안정된 사회 정착을 넘어, 특히 다문화 청소년의 건강한 학교생활을 도모하려면 이들을 지원할 복지 서비스 및 정책 마련을 위한 학술적 담론이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Visible Minority 개념에 근거해 다문화 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 학교생활 만족도에 미치는 영향을 검증하고 그 과정에서 가시적·비가시적 외모 특성의 조절효과를 분석해 보고자 하였다. 한국청소년정책연구원의 『다문화청소년패널조사 2기 데이터』를 활용해 다문화 청소년 359명을 대상으로 위계적 선형회귀분석을 비롯한 통계분석을 실시했다. 분석결과, 문화적응 스트레스가 높을수록 다문화 청소년의 학교생활 만족도 수준은 낮아졌으며, 문화적응 스트레스와 학교생활 만족도의 영향 관계는 외모 특성에 따라 달라져 외모 특성의 조절효과가 유의함이 확인되었다. 이에 연구결과를 토대로 다문화 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스 감소 및 학교생활 만족도 향상을 위한 방안과, 외모 특성이 다문화 청소년의 사회공동체 소속에 배제 요인으로 작용되는 현상을 예방할 포용사회 구현 전략의 필요성을 제언하였다. 본 연구는 한국에 다문화가족이 증가하는 현실을 반영하여 다문화 청소년의 건전한 성장에 기여될만한 학술적 탐색을 수행했다는 점에서 높은 시대성을 가진다. 이번 연구가 다문화 청소년의 안녕한 삶 지원에 기여할 후속 연구현장 및 실천현장에 유용한 기초정보를 제공할 것으로 기대한다. As the modern Korean family system faces globalization, the rate of multicultural family in Korea is increasing. To promote a healthy school life for multicultural adolescents, beyond ensuring the stable social settlement of multicultural families, academic discussions are needed to develop welfare services and policies that support them. This study seeks to verify the effect of multicultural adolescents' cultural adaptation stress on school life satisfaction and analyzed the moderating effects of visible and invisible appearance characteristics in that process in the context of Visible Minority. Statistical analyses including hierarchical linear regression analysis were conducted on a sample of 359 multicultural adolescents using the 『2nd Multicultural Adolescents Panel Survey Data』 by the National Youth Policy Institute. The results shows that multicultural adolescents’ school life satisfaction decreased as the cultural adaptation stress increased, while the moderating effect of appearance characteristics was significant as the effect relationship between cultural adaptation stress and school life satisfaction was found to vary depending on appearance characteristics. Based on the results, this study suggests a plan to reduce cultural adaptation stress and improve school life satisfaction for multicultural adolescents, as well as the need for a strategy to foster a more inclusive society where appearance characteristics do not become an exclusionary factor for multicultural adolescents within the community. This study holds significant timeliness as it reflects the increasing presence of multicultural families in Korea and has conducted an academic exploration that contributes to the healthy development of multicultural adolescents. This study is expected to serve as valuable foundational data for future research and practical initiatives aimed at supporting the well-being of multicultural adolescents.
