Summary: | The purpose of this study is to provide a technical solution for calculating the penetration distance of salt water and defending the intake water when the Nakdong River estuary gate is opened. As a result of the study, first, the salty water penetration distance is greatly influenced by water discharge of the Haman Dam rather than the sea tide. Second, the minimum amount of Haman dam discharge is 300 CMS for defense of agricultural water (15 km point from the estuary gate), and the minimum amount of Haman dam discharge for protection of raw water (26 km point from the estuary gate) is 200 CMS. Third, it is desirable that the salinity concentration to protect the water source is at least 0.1 PSU maximum 0.5 PSU, and the control point should gradually expand the salt water area to the first West Nakdong Bridge, the 2nd Hwangmyeong Bridge and the final Deaje gates. Fourth, we suggest that the appropriate water level considering the water intake level is 0.5 m ~ 1 m for the dry season, 0 m to 1 m for the normal season, and -1 m to +1 m for the wet season.
