Summary:Purpose: This study was conducted to identify essential components of home-visit parenting support programs for multicultural families with young children. Methods: The Delphi method was used with a group of experts to validate the elements. The instrument was developed through focus group interviews and a literature review. We derived 33 draft items on the degree of performance and importance of programs (Domain I), and eight draft items on the need for and urgency of improvement of programs (Domain II). Using surveys comprising items rated on a five-point Likert scale and open-ended items, we conducted two rounds of the Delphi method with 36 and 29 experts, respectively. The content validity ratio (CVR) and Kendall’s W for agreement were calculated for the experts’ opinions. Results: Items with a CVR value of less than .31 in the first Delphi survey were not excluded from the second round to confirm consensus in the latter. As a result of the second Delphi, three items in Domain I and one item in Domain II showed a CVR of .33 or less. Finally, 23 items were derived in Domain I and seven in Domain II. All Kendall’s W values were statistically significant. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop appropriate teaching aids that reflect the needs of the subjects and considers their literacy levels. In addition, it is necessary to expand the target of these programs to multicultural families. This study can be used as a basis for planning and executing programs and services for multicultural families.
