다문화시대 민족 정체성 교육의 방향 -2007 개정 도덕과 교육과정 내용체계를 중심으로

오늘날 한국 사회는 정보화․세계화 현상으로 다문화사회로 진입하고 있다. 그러나, 한국 사회는 단일민족의식을 바탕으로 민족 동질성에 기초한 확고한 민족 정체성을 특징으로 지니고 있다. 따라서, 한국 사회는 다문화 추세와 단일 민족 의식 사이에서 나타나는 여러 가지 갈등과 어려움을 겪고 있다. 한국 사회는 강한 민족 정체성을 배경으로 타문화에 대한 편견과 고정관념이 상대적으로 강한 반면, 문화적 다양성을 이해하고 존중하는 다문화적 인성은 상대적으로 부족하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구의 문제의식은 다음과 같은 질문으로부터 출발한다. 다문화시대에 다양한 인종, 민족, 문화를 이해하고 존중하기 위해 한민족으로서의 고유한 민족 정체성을 폐기해야 하는가? 한국인 스스로가 다문화시대에 적응하기 위해서 한민족으로서의 정체성을 극복해야 할 비합리적인 관념으로 간주해야 하는가? 즉, 민족 정체성을 확고히 하면서 동시에 다문화적 관점을 수용할 수 있는 방법은 없는가의 문제이다. 이에 본고에서는 우선 Ⅱ장에서 다문화시대 한국 사회의 민족 정체성의 특징을 진단해보고, Ⅲ장에서 다문화적 관점에서 민족 정체성 교육의 가능성을 살펴보고, Ⅳ장에서는 2007 개정 중학교 도덕과 교육과정에 나타난 다문화 및 민족 정체성 관련 개념 및 내용을 분석해 봄으로써, 다문화시대 도덕 교과의 민족 정체성 교육의 방향을 모색해 보고자 한다. In this age, there have been a constant change that various races and cultures in each region are mixing and fusing, causing uncertain boundaries between nations. It is the multi-cultural age that mutual fusion culture and a new culture creation are more preferred than emphasizing on a certain culture. More the culture gets multiple, more necessity of national identity. This study departs from the following questions; To adapt to a multi-cultural age, do we need to disuse the national identity? Do we need to think the concept of national identity to be irrational? This paper is composed of three parts. In the first part, we checked over the characteristics of national identity in korea society. Second, we will propose the possibility of education for national identity in multi-cultural perspective. The last, we will analyze the contents about multiculturalism and national identity for the revision of moral education curriculum in 2007. Then this paper suggests linkage of multi-culture education and ethics education. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to find a way to reinforce national identity based on our multi-cultural perspective. KCI Citation Count: 7
