Abstract | This survey aimed to elucidate the relationship between an interest regarding food and nutrition education among mothers and their children’s health, diet, and lifestyle in order to obtain data that would be useful in the promotion of food and nutrition education at home and nursery schools. In July 2011, 606 mothers with children aged 3-6 years completed questionnaires regarding food and nutrition education and their children’s lifestyle. Approximately 90% of the mothers had an interest in food and nutrition education. The following were considered to be important for food and nutrition education: “Experience the taste of a variety of foods”, “Eat three regular meals per day”, “Learn about the nutritional content of food”, and “Enjoy meals with friends and family”. In the group with little interest in food and nutrition education, the situation of the meal of children was inappropriate. Furthermore, children that their mothers had little interest in food and nutrition education had a little appetite. The results of this study suggest that mothers’ interest in food and nutrition education influences their children’s diet, lifestyle, and health status and that this reflects in their child-rearing attitudes.
母親の食育への関心の程度と子どもの健康、食生活、生活習慣との関係を明らかにし、家庭および保育所における食育推進に役立つ資料を得ることを目的として調査を行った。平成23年7月、606人の幼児(3~6歳児)の母親を対象に、幼児の生活状況と母親の食育に関する質問紙調査を実施した。食育へ関心を持つ母親はおおむね9割であった。母親が食育と考える内容は 「いろいろな食べ物の味を体験する」、「1日3食規則正しく食べる」、「食べ物の栄養について学ぶ」、「家族や友人と一緒に楽しく食べる」 の割合が高かった。食育への関心が低い母親の群では、子どもの食事環境に不適切な状況が見られた。幼児の健康状態は、関心が低い群で 「食欲が無い」 児の割合が高かった。母親の食育への関心の有無は、子どもの食事の状況や生活習慣、さらに健康状態に強い影響を及ぼし、子どもへの養育態度を反映しているものでもあることを示唆していた。 |
