Summary: | The objective of the present study was to determine differences in assessment of garment sizes between wearers and observers. A wearing test using a front-opening shirt was conducted on 88 young women. Subjects tried on five sizes (-1 to +3) of shirts, whose sizes were not marked, in random order. Wearers and observers assessed the fit of each shirt, and after assessing all five shirts, identified the shirt having the best fit and their preferred shirt. In addition, the clothing sizes purchased by wearers were also recorded. Moreover, the wearers assessed the influence that their figure, height, and bust had on the fit. The results showed that wearers selected shirts one size larger than their actual size, while observers selected shirts that were the proper size, as having the best fit. In addition, 88.6% of wearers purchased clothing sized 7 to 11, regardless of their bust size. Moreover, the selection of the best fitting size was affected by bust size and height among wearers and figure and bust size of wearers among observers. In other words, wearers may not have felt comfortable even if they had worn the size that the observers judged to fit them by their appearance.
若年女子88名が衣料サイズ情報を排除した異なる5サイズの前あきシャツを試着し,着用者自身と若年女子の観察者が,サイズの判別ならびに適合と好みを評価して,および両者の違いを検討した.さらに,評価する際に着用者の体格(体型,身長,号数)が及ぼす影響について検討した. 結果,着用者は1サイズ大きいものを適合と評価し,観察者は適合サイズを適合と評価した.サイズに関わらず,着用者は観察者よりも小さいと評価していた.また,88.6%の者が胸囲に対応する号数に関わらず7から11号を購入していた.さらに、着用者の適合サイズ選択には自身の号数と身長が影響し,観察者の適合サイズの判断には着用者の体型と号数が影響していたことが明らかとなった.以上の結果から,観察者が外観だけで適合すると思ったサイズを着用させても,必ずしも着用者自身の着心地がよいとは限らないことが示唆された. |
