Summary:The initial alignment of the liquid crystal (LC) is defined by the anchoring of the LC/solid interface, and the creation of the weak anchoring interface contributes to the reduction of the driving voltage and power consumption of the LC device. In this study, a weak anchoring interface was created by forming a film composed of two kinds of silane coupling agents with different alkyl chain lengths on a glass surface. The anchoring strength in both polar and azimuth was successfully controlled by optimizing the ratio of two silane coupling agents.
