Summary: | The first surgical robot system in Japan, hinotori, was newly developed by Medicaloid and was approved for manufacturing and marketing in August 2020. hinotori has unique characteristics that make it different from the conventional system, da Vinci, including docking-free design, 8-axis arm and 3D high-definition imaging. In recent years, it has gradually become popular in robotic surgery associated with renal cell carcinoma. However, there have been limited reports on the usefulness of hinotori in robotic surgery targeting renal cell carcinoma, particularly high complex renal tumors. This review focuses on robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for patients with high complex tumors as well as robot-assisted radical nephrectomy and inferior vena cava tumor thrombectomy for renal cell carcinoma with inferior vena cava thrombus, and discusses the application of hinotori to these procedures based on our experiences. |
