Abstract | The universality of theatrical means of expression leads to the conjecture that their roots must lie in an elementary and vital faculty of the psyche. I have suggested elsewhere that these roots lie in the inborn capacity of the human brain to spontaneously create images, and employ them in thinking practices (Rozik, 2002: 247–69).
In my previous research, I have repeatedly suggested to trace the roots of various forms of theatre semiosis back to the thinking principles of the preverbal mind, under the intuitive assumption that there is a fundamental affinity between them. In the light of this intuition, |
