Summary:A propulsion performance test using a model for estimating the horsepower of a general cargo ship is usually performed to grasp the performance in a straight running condition. However, it is expected that understanding of the propulsion performance at low speeds and oblique conditions will be important for slow blunt ships and wind-assisted propulsion ships that will be developed to achieve zero GHG emissions in the future. In this study, the propulsion performance was measured using a slow blunt ship model at low speed and oblique conditions, which was not performed in a normal tank test. The effects on the wake and propulsion performance due to the change of the oblique angle and the effects in the low speed were experimentally understood.
