Summary:A case of ileus due to penetrated ulcer of the small intestine during severe alcoholic rhabdomyolysis is reported. The ulcer and smooth muscle disintegration were cmfirmed pathologicall. A 57-year-old male was admitted complaining of melena and disturbance of consciousness. Rhabdomyolysis was improved by continuous hemodialysis filtration, but ileus developed as a result of heavy sedation during continuous hemodialysis filtration. A month later, laparotomy was performed because the ileus failed to improve, and the site of obstruction was identified. Parts of the small intestine were adherent to each other and had and peforated into each other. The adherent intestine was resected, and the ileus improved. It is common takinglong-term alcohol impair rhabdium muscle. Because striated muscle and smooth muscle react to alcohol inthe same way, small intestinal ulcer due to alcoholic rhabdomyolysis may be increased.
