Summary: | Aspiration biopsy cytology is widely used in malignant diseases of adult, but not of childhood. We report a child with mediastinal malignant lymphoma diagnosed by aspiration biopsy cytology. The patient was a 12-year-old boy, who was found to have a mass lesion on chest X-ray. Several imaging examinations demonstrated that the mass in the superior mediastinum was homogeneously solid and that the mass infiltrated the pericardium, aorta and pulmonary artery. Aspiration biopsy cytology revealed diffuse lymphoma of large cell B cell type. |
