Abstract A 76 year-old woman visited our hospital with high grade fever, general fatigue and appetite loss. She had suffered from relapsying acute pancreatitis and peptic ulcer which was treated with a distal gastrectomy six years ago. A further examination demonstrated duodenal and duodenal diverticulum stones,40×25mm and 30×20mm, detected by US and PTC. Before surgery, she undertook extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, which fractured all the stones leading to a cure of acute pancreatitis caused by the compression of Papilla Vater by the stones. Removed stones were found to contain bilirubin calcium and stearic acid. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy can be an useful lithotripsy therapy for intestinal stones.
